The Birthday

Zane’s second birthday was a low-key, sans-tie affair. No dressing up, no party hats, just us and the pets. After dinner was over (and while he was still our prisoner) we had some birthday cake with raspberries and then opened cards and presents. Zane seemed a bit more aware of the event than last year but still doesn’t seem to understand the birthday concept. Sometime in the next few weeks we’ll have a bigger party at the house, inviting over all of the May and June babies (toddlers) for a proper celebration with noise and toys and kids running around and food smeared everywhere.
