Yesterday Zane came along for my semi-annual dental cleaning. We didn’t schedule it or anything, Faith just thought it would be a good idea to get him used to the idea in a low pressure situation. The hygienist was great, letting him wander around and play with things. He sat on my legs for much of it: granted, it was a bit worrisome to have a wiggly two year old on my lap at the same time as sharp dental tools probed my gums. Every once in a while she’d raise the seat all of the way and then down again.
He got a balloon made from a vinyl glove, a kids toothbrush, and she told him about everything going on. By the time my exam was done he was letting her run the tooth polisher on his teeth, spray wanter into his mouth, and even vacuum it back out.
He’s scheduled to come with me on the next appointment, with extra time reserved at the end in case he’s ready to have his own cleaning done.
p.s. Happy Birthday Cousin Dana!!!
