It's a Long Story...

Zane has become something of a comedian. We were driving down the interstate and from time to time I’d ask him what something was, or what color: like water towers, trucks, and so on. At one point we were passing a semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer with a large, white metal rectangle on it. Some kind of out building, I suspect for communications electronics.

What’s that Zane?
small pause, presumably as he thinks it through…
“A chicken!” and then he busted up laughing. Of course we were then treated to a number of chicken sightings, all with much laughter.

One night while checking into a hotel he and I were at the front desk and I asked about a suite, explaining that we’d love to have a setup where Zane can go to sleep in one room while we read or watch TV in the other. I’m not sure on the exact sequence, but they didn’t have one and Zane chimed in with “I’ll sleep in the bathtub!” He started laughing, the ladies at the desk laughed and I told him that’s a great idea! He turned serious and, gesturing with his hand for emphasis, explained that he was only making a funny. Then he went back to laughing. We stopped by the desk later and the lady gave him a stuffed buffalo, saying something about sleeping in the tub as he started walking away. He turned around, walked back, and told her he was only making a joke and that kids don’t sleep in bathtubs.
