In the Swim

I took Zane to his lesson at the end of the week. We showed up early and the class got underway late so he had lots of time (and space) to do what he loves best: play in the water! Sometime I drop things and he’ll dive under to retrieve them (a couple feet deep) but this time he mostly swam back and forth. I notice the instructor, after working with him to swim out some distance and back, will often let go of Zane about five feet from the edge and let him work his own way back. He does a fine job now, although often forgets that he has legs to kick with.

The suit must keep him much warmer. Does it help him with his buoyancy? Both things thin children need help with when swimming.

Yes to both I think. It’s a bit of an effort to get the thing OFF of him due to the rubbery nature, but he doesn’t have nearly as many problems with getting cold as he used to.

We’ve got some real fish in our family! Lizzi swims well. Dana has take several months of swimming lessons and loves the water, too. Maybe the Henricksens are practicing reverse evolution!
