Goggle Haircut

I shaved most of my hair off a week or so back and since then I’ve been trying to see what kind of haircut Zane wants, mostly hoping he wants the same, easy-peasy buzz cut. But what he really wanted was a Goggle haircut. Unfortunately none of us, including Zane it would seem, know exactly what this means. At one point when I was trying to get more details he mentioned it was from Hawaii, which comes up in a LOT of conversation since his friend came back from vacation. Last night I asked him to draw a picture of a goggle haircut and, based on the photo, you can now see how that cleared things up. A couple of times he grabbed his hair and held it out, kind of like Pippi Longstocking pigtails, which I choose to totally not pursue.

So it was without any clear direction that we fired up the electric clippers last night and attempted a Goggle haircut. To be honest, as much as I wanted to do a buzz cut, I went in and trimmed the edges instead. His hair is so light that it’s really hard to do anything definitively, just a wisp here and a fluff there. After a bit of this I held him up to the mirror so he could see. He got a big surprised look on his face, then a mischievous grin, followed by a “let me try!” Clippers in hand he went straight for the bangs, cutting everything to the approximate 2” length of the clipper guide. “Well, there’s not going back now,” I figured, and with that we had a grand ol’ time cutting Zane hair.

After it was all said and done and trimmed up a bit he looked in the mirror and exclaimed, “Goggle Haircut!”

There’s a few scruffy parts that I’ll probably be touching up over the next couple of days, but I think it came out well and he’s such a handsome little fellow now. “:^)
