In addition to stepping up his mimicry of words Zane is also taking up singing. Our favorite song this week goes like:
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-NO.
And on that farm he had a Zane, E-I-E-I-NO.
With a no no here and a no no there
Here a no, there a no, everywhere a no no
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-NO
As you can imagine he loves this version and there’s some words he has NO problem singing!
Along this line of thought I’ve discovered an important parental lesson: kids don’t know physics. After filling a cup with juice and Zane points to the juice jug instead, simply mime pouring from the jug into the cup and then hand it to him. Or if he points to the cheese block when he’s already got a chunk? Re-cut his chunk from the main one and hand it back to him. I don’t consider it lying as much as re-enforcing existing truths.
He was working on his truck the other day and blowing air UP in big gusty sighs, which in turn sent his hair poofing skyward.
