Drawing from both sides

The dentist office gave him a little race car notepad during the visit the other day, which Zane rediscovered this morning. I gave him a pen and he started sketching things, including what he termed “a spaceship” and a boat. Normally when he draws it’s the typical uncontrolled swirls and jags, but as you can see below he was being more precise and drawing slow, methodical “stuff.” He’d be drawing with his right hand on one side of the notebook and when the pen reached the binding spiral he switched to using the left hand without even pausing to think and continued drawing on the opposite page.
